A photo of Thomas survives from 2008, but he's wearing a Liverpool "Legends" shirt from a charity match: of all people, showing Arsenal's Anfield '89 hero in Liverpool's colours felt like the wrong call, so it isn't used here.
A midfielder who came through the youth system, Thomas scored one of the most famous goals in English football history: racing through in the dying seconds at Anfield on 26 May 1989, needing a win by two clear goals to snatch the title from Liverpool on the final day of the season, and doing exactly that. Commentator Brian Moore's call ("Thomas, right at the end!") is still replayed whenever the moment comes up.
