The Move to Highbury, 1913

Wally Hardinge

Forward1913–1920

No individual photograph is known to survive for Wally Hardinge; see the note on the players index for why we use a plain card rather than guess.

One of English sport's genuine dual internationals: in winter Hardinge played inside-forward, earning an England cap in 1910, while every summer he turned out for Kent, eventually amassing over 32,000 first-class runs across a cricket career that ran until 1933: the only Kent player ever capped for England at both sports. He played in Arsenal's first-ever match at Highbury before serving in the Royal Navy during the First World War.
