An outside-right whose Arsenal career was cut short by injury, forcing him to retire in 1912 aged just 29 (but that was only the beginning of his story. Garbutt moved to Genoa in Italy looking for dockworker's wages and, with no coaching experience at all, talked his way into the head coach's job. He stayed fifteen years, won three Italian championships, and is widely credited as the model for the modern professional football manager in Italy) Italians simply called him "Mister", a title still used for coaches there today.
