Ted Drake
Forward1934–1939
No individual photograph is known to survive for Ted Drake; see the note on the players index for why we use a plain card rather than guess.
Arsenal's centre-forward for the last of the great Chapman-era title wins, Drake produced one of the greatest individual performances English football has ever seen on 14 December 1935: playing through a heavily strapped knee injury, he scored all seven of Arsenal's goals in a 7–1 win away at Aston Villa, still the top-flight record for goals in a single match, nearly a century later.
